Annabel and The Ant

“Cornelius, LOOK at Annabel! What happened?”

“My little fella, she was pruned.”

“PRUNED? She was DESTROYED!”

Cornelius’ voice was calm. “I know it looks like a lot was cut. Next spring you will see new growth and leaves appear. Soon she will be covered with even more roses.”

“How can that be?” Ant asked. He crawled up what was left of Annabel. “Look at her, she only has three stalks left. I’m going to miss her.” He sniffed.

“Wait and see.” Cornelius assured.
