2:55 Wish Upon a Star.
EGGY: Hey, look at that. The first star in the sky. Hey, that means I can make a wish and get whatever I want. All right. I wish I might, I wish I may, have this wish I wish today. Uh...I wish for all the junk food I can eat... Okay, where is it? Come on, star! We have a deal here. Now listen, star! Gimme my junk food or I’ll take you to court! I demand what is...
FLASH: Yes, folks, this is Flash, the roving reporter, here at the scene of what is obviously a civil disturbance. Sir, what is the problem here?
EGGY: I made a wish on that star up there and I didn’t get anything!
FLASH: Well, you can’t count on stars.
EGGY: Listen. Everybody knows that when you see the first star out at night, you can make a wish and the star has to give it to you, kind of like a cosmic game show.
FLASH: But stars are just stars. They can’t give you anything.
EGGY: But I really need my junk food. It’s a special diet for my complexion.
FLASH: The only person you can really count on is God.
EGGY: You mean, people can make wishes on God?
FLASH: No, what I mean is, when people accept Jesus as their Savior, God promises that He will give them whatever they need to do the things He wants them to do.
EGGY: Yeah, but when you wish on a star, you can wish for really great stuff.
FLASH: Every good thing comes from God. If God doesn’t give you what you want, then what you want really isn’t any good for you.
EGGY: Okay, so God gives people things they need. But there’s gotta be a catch.
FLASH: Well, the Bible says that people need to have faith.
EGGY: I know a girl named Faith. I’ll go get her. (Starts to leave)
FLASH: No, wait a minute. (Eggy stops) Faith is when a person believes in Jesus.
EGGY: Man, that’s easy. Anybody can claim to believe in Jesus.
FLASH: No, because you can always tell when faith is real. James 2:26 says, “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” If you have true faith, you will do what God says.
EGGY: Like what kind of deeds are you talking about?
FLASH: Well, if you really believe that God will give you what you need, then you will be willing to share what you have with other people.
EGGY: Share? Share?! What kind of a deal is that?
FLASH: It’s God’s deal.
EGGY: Well, leave me out of that. If I give my stuff away, I won’t have anything left. When I get stuff, I just want to get more.
FLASH: Well then, I’m sorry you’ll have to miss out on God’s blessing.
EGGY: Yeah, I’m sorry, too. This wishing business is hard work.
FLASH: There you have it, folks. Are you willing to trust God for your needs? It’s the only way to truly have your needs met.
