The Chaotic Carousel

The Chaotic Carousel

Our Steady Ol’ Red

It has been a whole year since I first went to the fair and rode the rides – even the chaotic carousel. Since we lived near a small town out in the county, everyone went to the fair and it was all most people talked about. Of course, all my fearless leader brother could talk about was the rides, but I was glad when Dad said we had to visit some other displays and activities like the farm animals and the place where they had all the homemade food with ribbons for those who cooked the best. Actually, I liked the farm animals. All we had on our farm was a horse – our steady Ol’ Red, a bunch of cows, calves, a bull, some chickens, a couple of cats and Amigo, our collie dog. At the fair they had sheep, some real strange looking chickens, pigs, all kinds of horses, even some little tiny ones my size and some of the little animals were babies so you could pet them. It was fun.
